Called the Dark Elf, Eöl was possibly the best smith of all the Elves. He was considered a Dwarf-friend, learning from and trading with the Dwarves of Ered Luin.

He ensnared the elf lady Aredhel as she was travelling through Nan Elmoth and wed her. They had a son, Maeglin, who convinced his mother to run away back to her home of Gondolin. Eöl followed them, which led to the accidental killing of Aredhel by Eöl. He was put to death as punishment.

**Note: Eöl... is not the nicest of elves. He is sullen, broody and hates the Noldor (and his son) with a burning passion. Unless you're a Dwarf or his wife, don't expect pleasant conversation. If you're his son, please expect Eöl to be plotting your death.
